September Workshop 2023
Our first Demonstration/Workshop of the MAS year got off to a flying start with guest artist Patricia O' Brien. She spent the first hour showing us how she produces her lovely and colourful prints. Then we all had the chance get our hands dirty experimenting with her techniques and producing many satisfying and creditable pieces of work. Great fun was had by all and Sue will definitely feature in one of our future programmes.

July Workshop
Amanda Webster proved a very popular and talented artist who impressed all of us with her skill and knowledge. She made portrait painting in watercolour look easy - we later found out it isn't. We're also very grateful to our model for the morning Ellie Anderson.

May 20 Workshop
A delightful workshop with Sue Nicol who showed us how to use texture paste in our oil paintings. A former teacher, Sue created a beautiful landscape with light and depth and introduced us all to 'pigment sticks' to add vibrancy to our pictures. She went on to highlight her techniques for painting buildings, trees and seascapes.

June 2023 Workshop
We were very grateful to Wirksworth artist Jenny Aitkin who kindly stepped in to run our June Demonstration and Workshop. Jenny shared lots of tips and tricks to help us bring light into our paintings. During the morning she created a lovely picture and guided us through our own work in the afternoon workshop session.

And these are the pictures members created during the workshop.

April 2023 Workshop
Rick Holmes is an outstanding pastel painter who has had two pieces of work accepted for The Pastel Society Exhibition in 2022. He delivered an interesting demonstration and busy workshop which helped us all produce some great pictures.

March 2023 Workshop
Peter Wooley provided an entertaining and informative morning demonstration of his watercolour skills. He showed us how to paint waterfalls - without painting the water! He shared his useful tips and use of a limited palatte to create effective landscapes.

February 2023 Workshop
Kate Wrigglesworth used gouache and watercolour pencils for detail in her joyful demonstration of creating movement and flow in painting. She showed us how to use our freedom of expression by encouraging us to follow our own imagination in our artwork.
