Morning Demonstration and Workshop

Known for painting street scenes bustling with figures and the hubbub of everyday life, Ian strives to catch the energy and essence of a location through lively application of paint, using direct brushwork, without overlays of washes, normally associated with watercolour painting.

Carol Hill: Techniques with Oils
Morning demonstration & afternoon workshop kindly given by our President.
Many of us use oil paints but do we really know and understand this medium? How should I apply the paint? What is glazing? How long does it take to dry?, How do I frame my work? An experienced oil painter, member of the SWA and RBSA, Carol will give us confidence to work in oils.

Marie Bolton: Mixed Media
Presentation, demonstration & Workshop
Marie is a mixed media artist who often repeatedly paints a chosen location, in all seasons throughout the year. She will talk about what inspires her and explain how the use of different media enhances her work, encouraging us to try some new techniques.

Graham Loughton: Painting in Pastels
Demonstration & Workshop
Yorkshire Artist Graham Loughton returns to our group, after many years, to give a demonstration of the use of soft pastels in representational landscape painting

Matthew Phinn: Watercolour Landscapes
Demonstration & Workshop
Matthew spent six years as an Artist in Residence in Japan and was elected a member of the Japanese Watercolour Society. He will demonstrate his style of painting and use of composition, telling us how Japanese art has influenced his work.

Susan Rhodes-Simpson:Batik
All day Workshop - Members Only
Sue is an experienced artist and teacher working in Batik. She will instruct us in the technique of using hot wax to create our own Batik designs on paper.

Caroline Lowe: Eco Printing
All day Workshop - Members Only
Working with collected plant material and using the natural dyes inherent in some plants, Caroline will show us how to create Eco Prints on paper.

Tom Shepherd: Watercolour Still Life
Demonstration & Workshop
Tom enjoys the free-flowing, immediate nature of watercolour. He loves painting a wide variety of subjects, especially if the light is doing something interesting. Tom will be creating, lighting and painting a Still Life for us.
